The main aim of my research is to better understand the mechanisms involved in the development, maintenance, and resolution of pain and disability in chronic musculoskeletal conditions. The ultimate goal is to establish non-invasive MRI biomarkers for the measurement of treatment efficacy in outcomes that are subjective and difficult to quantify, like pain and function. The current project focuses on neural correlates of arthroscopic subacromial decompression in comparison with nontherapeutic diagnostic arthroscopy in a placebo-controlled surgical intervention trial - CSAW Study (Can Shoulder Arthroscopy Work?).
